BUAP
The Autonomous University of Puebla, whose origins trace back to the XVI century, constitutes a pillar for higher education and scientific research in the region and occupies a prominent place among public universities in the country, due to the concerted effort of all members of the university community.
What we find today in the Autonomous University of Puebla is the product of a long history dating back to May 9, 1578, when a Jesuit congregation established residence in Puebla, and at the express request of the city council, founded the Seminar of Saint Hieronymus of the Society of Jesus.
Nine years later they built a school dedicated to the education of the upcoming generations of young people in the New Spain.

LOBO BUS & LOBO BIKE
In order to facilitate mobility of both students and staff within the Ciudad Universitaria campus and to promote a healthy, eco-friendly lifestyle, the community is encouraged to park their cars and use the free shuttle service known as Lobo Bus which has three separate routes which cover all the different areas of that campus. In addition, there is the Lobo Bike system, which provides loaner bikes for quick, easy and safe transportation on or around campus in specially designed bike lanes.

UNIVERSITY TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM
The University Transportation System (STU) was developed to support students in commuting to and between the different city campuses. The system comprises a network of routes which cover a large part of the greater Puebla area and provide service at lower rates than urban commercial services.

The Chess Park is a space destined for the coexistence and physical and intellectual development of university students and society in general.
RADIO BUAP
Radio BUAP is the official radio station of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP). It transmits in the frequency of 96.9 MHz in FM with indicative XHBUAP-FM and 10 kW of power from the city of Puebla, Puebla. It has its point of transmission in the first floor of the Building Carolino, to one end of the Baroque Salon

THE UNIVERSITY CULTURAL COMPLEX
The University Cultural Complex (CCU) was inaugurated on November 10, 2008, and has become a singular space and a referent for culture in Puebla. Because of its architectural beauty, it has received acclaim worldwide. In 2011 it placed fourth among 704 architectural projects from 65 countries which competed in the “People’s Choice Award 2011”, an award granted by the European firm Open Buildings of Europe, at the 2011 World Architecture Festival (WFA).
This monumental work is located on vía Atlixcáyotl to the south of Puebla and it has an area of 87,877 m2. The complex has numerous buildings that harbor multiple spaces and venues, an auditorium which seats over 3,000 people, theatre, cinemas, convention center, bookstore, symphony hall and cultural esplanade among others, dedicated to the dissemination of art, culture and science.

LIBRARIES
The system of University libraries house an inventory of over 400 thousand different titles and close to 668 thousand volumes. There are 69 individual libraries. The main library is the Central Library which also houses a children’s and young people’s library.
There are two area libraries, one for the Health Sciences “José Joaquín Izquierdo”) and another one specialized in the Social Sciences and the Humanities (“José Revueltas”). There are 17 libraries in undergraduate academic units and four in Research Institutes; there are six graduate libraries and ten libraries in regional campuses, 16 libraries in regional schools and Regional Preparatory School extensions, four reading rooms and the Historical Library “José María Lafragua”, which is the repository for the University’s rare books and incunabula.

STUDENT COUNSELLING, SUPPORT AND THE PROMOTION OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
Through the office for student support services, Dirección de Acompañamiento Universitario, a number of programs have been created for student support and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle which include the installation of Units for Health Promotion, programs such as Comida Sana (healthy eating), Vida Saludable (a healthy lifestyle) and Lobos en Movimiento (Lobos on the move) as well as a support system to provide immediate attention to students with emotional or behavioral problems, as well as programs designed to prevent drug consumption and violence.

UNIVERSITY HIGH PERFORMANCE AND SPORTS COMPLEX
This complex occupies an extensive area in the Ciudad Universitaria campus and provides venues and facilities for practicing various sports and a program for training outstanding youth who show special aptitudes or abilities to excel in the sports activity of their choice; it also offers courses and activities for the community at large.
Located within this complex are the University Stadium, the team house for the Lobos team which is our Division “A” soccer team and the Sports Center “Ignacio Manuel Altamirano”. In addition there’s a baseball stadium, soccer and American Football fields, basketball, volleyball, racquetball and tennis courts, swimming pools, a gymnasium and rings, cages and specially conditioned spaces for the practice of martial arts and contact sports.

INTERNATIONAL VISITORS - FREE MOVERS
"Free Movers" are international visiting students that would like to study at our university. They belong to different Universities and their home institutions do not have any type of agreement or convention with the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla.

Spanish level requirements
You must prove any evidence (official certificate) of knowledge in Spanish (B1 level or equivalent) as a minimum requirement.
Length of stay
Free Mover exchange students will respect the BUAP year or semester schedule according to the length of stay in Mexico which can be from a half-year program to an academic year.
Courses
Students must attend at least three BUAP subjects, provided that they correspond to the same level and/or are compatible to their home university academic programs.

Puebla
The city of Puebla de Zaragoza is The capital of the state, the fourth Mexican city by the number of its inhabitants. A historic, industrial, and educational city in which more than five million people live, making this state the fifth most populous in the country.
Located in a valley near four volcanoes, Puebla is 2 160 meters above sea level in the middle east of the Mexican territory. It borders to the east with the state of Veracruz, to the west with the states of Hidalgo, Mexico, Tlaxcala and Morelos and to the south with the states of Oaxaca and Guerrero.
The city of Puebla is known for its historical sites, its typical cuisine and its popular arts as the most emblematic Talavera poblana. The people of Puebla are called Poblanos and the language is Spanish, although the mother tongue, Nahuatl, is still spoken in some areas of the Puebla valley.
The dominant climates in the state are temperate climates, with varying degrees of humidity. The third part of the territory has a temperate sub-humid climate with summer rains. In this part of the state the annual temperatures are of 16º in average, and the rainfall oscillates between the 600 and 800 mm annually. The rainy season is summer.
